My beagle recently started yelping when rising from a sleepign postion and carries his tail low. Any ideas?

He is 9 years old and has had to put forth a little more effort in the past few months to get up on the couch or bed.

Please take him to the vet.  It sounds like it might be a tumor growing near his spleen.  The vet will take an xray.  If you have this diagnosed early, your pooch has a better chance.  Geriatric dogs are prone to arthritis, joint problems and cancer.

i'd think it would be something to do with it's back legs...but if i were you i would call the vet ASAP...poor doggy

It sounds like he could be developing arthritis. I'd make an appointment with the vet, find out exactly what's causing his pain, and see what you can do to stop it.
