I have 2 beardies 1 male 1 female and i have a couple ov questions my male always bites my females eye or face now it is not aggresive but he'll stick his tongue out at her focus then snap and a fight never breaks out but the female never bites back but y would the male do this?? 2nd question is what does it mean if her eye is shut? her eye was shut (im guessing from the biting ) to the point she couldnt open it and it was crusty she can now though i rubbed it with a cotton swa that had warm water on it and her other eye is a little puffy and black-ish and seem crooked the question is what would both ov the problems with the eyes mean? and next question question the last time he bit her a clear substance (seemed gooey) seeped out ov her eye and she seemed in pain what could that substance be?and last question how can i get my male to stop this?? like i said its not aggresive but at the same time i dont want my female hurt and if ur wondring yes shes fine she eats normally runs around but yea please answer

  1. First, separate them IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! get the female to the vet she can go blind. i had this happen first hand they were from the same clutch and he got aggresive and attacked her he popped out her eye and gave her brain damage. she died a week later.

  2. split them up now.you got lucky your female isnt blind dont take a second chance. u cant stop this the male will keep doing it split them up or get rid of one (sell give away i dont care how)

  3. isn't it obvious?

  4. First thing first seperate them. It is Aggresive and he might have just popped her eye This was probably eye humerous (inner juice) that was leaking. She will be lucky if she is not blind. Look on www.anapsid.org and find a local vet that specializes in herps. (reptiles) She probably needs vet care because the bites will probably become infected.

  5. hi you need to seperate them, he is not being friendly, i had a male and then i got a female, i put them together and he was doing the same i contacted my local pet shop owner and he said to seperate them the males are rather aggressive with the females and they get worse when breeding its not pretty and the females can get hurt, they need to be bigger than the males and 2 years old before mixing, also the males are very horny and to put it bluntly will constantly try to breed this can result in your female popping eggs out the time and eventually shes gonna be no good to anyone, he said you should have 3 females to 1 male in a tank, how old are you beardies?

also the beardies tongue is sticky on the end it secretes a sticky fluid that it catches the crickets with when feeding kinda like a frog this will be whats sticking your females eyes shut initially, i cant say wether theres any damage to her eye i dont know but it really cant be good for her iknow it means another tank but really you do have to seperate them, i had to its just not worth the risk because it is aggression that hes showing her and it will get worse when he decides he wants to mate, they grab them and bite them and drag them around its really quite stressful for the female and not nice to watch and if shes young she could end up dead x*x
