  1. I imagine that since the bedroom is all dark, it could give you the feeling that you are trapped in a box.  I would feel a little enclosed in that space.  Other than that, I don't think it's going to affect a person too much.  It wouldn't change the way a person was normally.

  2. That's a cold color, so it tends to cause negative, sad emotions. It's kind of cool getting into all of this stuff, isn't it?

  3. Purple

The color of royalty, purple connotes luxury, wealth, and sophistication. It is also feminine and romantic.

My bedroom is  purple also, however my ceiling is white.  I love it, I also have a deep purple bedspread. It's very cozy to me and I have some beautiful watercolor floral paintings framed with very large white mats, so they really pop off of the walls. (Because of the large amount of white surrounding them).  Green is the complimentary color to purple, they work very well together.  I have done purple and green themed bedrooms since I was in my first dorm room in college (6 years ago).  Red also works well with purple and green.

The color I used was from Sherwin Williams it's called Mounting Dusk.  I don't feel as if my room is ultra feminine, I guess because it seems so dark, but my boyfriend does hate it.  He says its to much purple, it's just very calming and relaxing to me.  It's my getaway.  My purple palace, I love it!

  4. Depending on the shade of purple...color theory says that it is a combination of Red (excitement) and Blue (calmness, serenity) and the color that represents fantasy, illusion, and the need to avoid reality because it seems too dangerous or unhappy a place.

Interestingly, purple was a very popular shade for clothes and even cars during both the Nixon and Reason administrations...indicating (according to color theorists) that people wanted not to believe what was going on with those administrations, and so turned to fantasy.

By implication, that would suggest that the room you describe is colored in order to help you not have to deal with reality but encourage fantasy and illusion instead.

Given what I know about teens and young adults who get involved in psychic stuff, ESP, beliefs in fortune-telling and the like (all illusions and left-overs from childhood beliefs in Santa and the tooth Fairy), I'd say that a purple bedroom would certainly be appropriate for them.

  5. Sounds like a cool dark room.I think if you are happy that is all that matters.
