My best friend tossed me my camera when I told her not to and it hit the carpet. We thought it was fine because the screen and lens were not harmed. But when I turned it on this wierd messed up image showed up on the screen, and on all modes too. I'm really angry and nervous to tell my parents...plus what do I do now?

I have a Canon Powershot SD600 digital elph.

I know my parents wont buy me a new one, and my friend offered to pay for it, but she has no money either. I only have $80 and I have no idea what to do......

HELP?!!??!

  1. Hmm...some good friend....

Well, since your buddy broke it, she should pay for it.  Since she has no money...she should do something to raise her own.  Garage sale maybe?  I don't know.  I hope you figure that out though!  Good luck.  :)

  2. make your friends parents pay for your camera.

  3. Tell your parents.  Tell them exactly what happened and that you were just letting them know but that you don't expect them to buy you a new one.  Then continue to save for your own new camera.  If you save for it, you will be more careful with the next one.

I bet you won't try and play catch with the next one.  Lesson learned hopefully.

  4. Since your friend broke your camera, she should repay you for it. Regardless, you shouldn't hide this from your parents because whatever that may happen will only be short term. Hiding this, does no good and perhaps they may even not care and just buy a new one or get it replaced if still under warranty.

  5. I think you should look on ebay. That sucks yall broke your camera but its not worth fretting over. Things happen.

  6. Everyone is right about one thing, your friend should pay for it.  They are wrong in my opinion about telling your parents.  I don't know how old you are but at some point in life you have to start dealing with things yourself.  Take it to a camera shop to see about having it repaired, or perhaps to Best Buy.  If you look in the telephone directory, you will probably find camera repair shops as well and you can at least try to get an estimate and determine whether or not you can fix it or your friend can afford to pay for the repairs before you bring your parents into it.  Once the situation is resolved, you can tell your parents about it in an off handed way and if they ask why you didn't tell them just say that you thought you should take responsibility for it yourself.  They will probably be impressed that you were willing to do so.

  7. You might not need a new camera. Maybe see if you can get it fixed. Since your friend carelessly tossed the camera, it should be your friend who will pay the money to have your camera fixed. You need to tell your parents as well. Don't be nervous.. it wasn't your fault.
