My best friend at school always has to be better than me. She has to have harder classes, eat less, look skinnier, get more attention, work out more etc etc. It's getting so annoying! I got recruited to play varsity tennis and she gets mad at me when I go out with my team because she didn't make varsity golf so she thinks I'm rubbing it in her face, but whenever I am happy about something she has to be better at it! She always watches what I get at the cafe and then makes a HUGE deal over eating less or eating better or whatever. I love her to death but shes getting obnoxious! She's also my roommate so please don't say I need to ditch her as a friend! Help!

  1. She seems really jealous of you.  What she's doing is just pathetic so you should be the better person in this situation and just ignore when she is trying to be better than you.

  2. don't  pay  attention  and  ignore  let  her  be.

  3. Its up to you ... but I wouldn't have a 'friend' like that!

I couldn't put up with the catty , bitchy comments!

There are actually people who are NICE to me lol

  4. Wow, I guess if you have to live with her- just be polite and act like you don't care.  Unfortunately this girls has some major issue that are not going to just go away.  I think I would very solemnly ask her if she has a eating disorder or a problem with food next time she makes a HUGE deal over eating.  Tell her that you are starting to get worried about how much she needs to express what she is eating.  And although you are happy she is eating health, you think she might have a problem with food.  Hopefully this will snip it in the bud....

  5. ask her why she keeps trying to compete with you. My friend does that to me all the time but i try and ignore it and keep as happy as i can. When you don't let anything they say bother you, they start to realize that its getting old, and its not working out so eventually they will stop.

  6. Sounds like your friend is extremely insecure.  If you want to keep her as your friend, you might try to boost her up by giving her compliments on stuff about her that is NOT a competitive issue with you.  Give her some things to be proud of that have no impact on your relationship.
