My best friend is going to the marines i want to put useful things in a box. what things should i put?

I wanted to put some things that he likes but i can only think of 3 things. Any other ideas to have him occupied or something? Im gonna put the things he likes but after 3 things im at a blank. So far Im putting a picture of me. a journal and a toy fish. any other ideas?
