I've had this male beta fish for almost 2 years. He's never had any kind of fungus or worms. I keep his bowl clean and use only bottled water. I put drops for chlorine and stress. But sometimes he goes a couple days acting like he is going to die. He floats at the top and doesnt breathe or move until you move near him. Then he will stop acting like that and act normal and swim fine and has energy. My friend said he might have a disease. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

  1. when betta's are bought from a fish shop they are usually 6-12 months old, you have had him for 2 years and the average lifespan of a betta is 2-3 years unfortunately he may be coming to the end of his life :(

  2. When you get a Betta, they tend to already be 2 or more years old. If you've had him for 2 he could be between the ages of 4-6 depending how old he was. You're obviously taking good care of him so he may have a year or two left in him, but personally I think your betta is just getting old. Good luck to yah.

  3. hes old. he just probably needs more sleep in his old age =]

  4. he is probably has not had alot of sleep.

DO NOT BOTHER HIM WHEN HE IS DOING IT

  5. fish somtimes just act weird.
