  1. its probably just aging unless it is ill it would be much better if there was a picture

  2. Sounds like the same thing that was happening to mine.  Be sure that the water is within 68 to 78 degrees Fahrenheit.  Mine was just chilly but after getting the water warmer (with a water heater) his color came back even better than before.

  3. It would be worth doing a water change incase the tank toxins are making the fish unwell.

Are you feeding a good quality protein food? that may affect the colour. You could opt for a food that will bring out the colour in the fish.

You should also check the temperature of the tank as it may be too cool for it, resulting in colour loss.

The tank is also quite small so perhaps it would be happier in a bigger tank.

  4. It's whether stressed or getting old. Just in case, check the water temperature and the PH level. Fix what is wrong and then see what happens. If your betta is still the same, try adding a home for it to hide in so it can feel secure. My betta was like that and when I built a home for it, he turned royal blue again :)

  5. Color loss is the biggest size of aging. It is very common for old bettas to lose their coloration. It isn't anything to worry about, unless he isn't too old yet. The average life span of a betta is 2-3 years, which is something you should remember. How old is he? Every betta that I have owned have been extremely lucky (and healthy) and have lived up to 5 years. Please post more details or email me if you have more questions.

You should also make sure that water temperature is 78-82 degrees, the ammonia level is right, and that the nitrate level is no more than 10-20 ppm.

You can also do 25-50% water changes every two weeks. Use water conditioner.

    Good luck! :)
