My betta and dragon fish fought!! and dragon fish won :(?

Question

they never fought in front of me, they looked like they would fight , i would stare at them and nothing would happen, so i left them there and when i went to bed i could hear like a little splashing noise and i turned on the lights and the dragon fish had ripped the bettas tail off!!

shouldnt the betta be able to defend itself? it is called a FIGHTING fish isnt it?the dragon fish was about the same size as the betta, i put them on seperate tanks after that and then the next day the betta died :(

is there any fish that can be put in with the betta with out them killing each other?

A betta fish and a dragon fish in a 2 gallon tank? What's wrong with you! A 2 gallon tank is not a humane environment for a single fish let alone two of them. No wonder they fought! To answer your question, there is NO fish you can put in with a betta in a tiny 2 gallon "tank". Do you fish a favor and get a tank that's at least 6 to 12 gallons in size. Then ask a reputable pet store what fish you can add.
