  1. Not really. It's just how they swim. Mine does that all the time. He'll swim way up to the top in one direction to get air (they are labrynth fish which means they have an air sack to breathe with and the gills are a secondary breathing source) then turn around and slowly descend til he gets to my plants where he rests. He does this over and over. It's a betta thing.

  2. he's breathing, probably.  bettas can actually breathe air to supplement what they get through their gills

  3. Sounds like he's dying.Sorry!

  5. yes sounds like he is dying. :(

  6. i just bought my first betta the other day, and due to me not acclimatising him properly he was not too happy. also i did not have a heater in my tank so it was a bit cold.

have you just got him or have you had him a while? also what is ur aquarium setup like?

after getting my aquarium to the proper temp and giving him a little while to get over the shock he has stopped doing it - good luck with yours, don't give up they are very resilient!

  7. ive had a few bettas, and mine did that all the time...but then he stopped eating..and then he died, but im pretty sure that was my fault, so i wouldnt be too worried...but it seems like they dont eat once it gets dark lol i think that was my prob
