  1. if she has a white ball like the one there is in the picture, then it is a female betta and the white ball is called an ovipositor which is where she realeases her eggs from when she mates. female bettas also have short fins, like the one on the picture.

    EDIT: look at this link:

EDIT: female bettas dont get pregnant with fish, they just produce eggs that are supposed to be fertilized when they come out. If you have no male, her body will just abosorb the eggs or she will lay them and eat them, there is no harm. And besides, the ovipositor is ALWAYS showing and it does not mean she wants to breed. When she wants to breed she will have vertical barring and she will look plump. But then again, i wouldnt breed her if i was u, that is ALLOT of work and there is not harm if she doesnt breed.

  2. It's either the genital papilla, which would be a sign that it's ready to breed (I would NOT encourage this) or that it's constipated or has intestinal worms, either of which would cause white f***s.  If it does appear to be f***s, is the abdomen swollen?  Start feeding split peas.  If there is no swelling, I would start medicating its food with metronidazole (remove any activated carbon from the filter).
