My bf wants to get a vasectomy?

we are both 18 years old and have been together for 2 years we both want to get married and we have not had any children but he was thinking that he wanted to have a vasectomy due to the fact that he can put his sperm in a sperm bank if we ever wanted kids later in life i do not completely agree with this and would like more opinions on the topic :)

maybe he wants to cheat and never have any "actual proof" that he did...(i mean get another girl pregnant)

but that means he would be the biggest piece of you know what even to be thinkin about that

im sure he is just goin through a faze and wants to see how well you could help him?

its his decision but i think you still have some say in it but if he want to get it then you cant stop him

I would be very upset.  First of all the cost of either the sperm bank or getting it reversed later is incredibly expensive.  You will have to pay an annual storage fee, a laboratory fee, amongst other fee's for the sperm bank.  Regarding a reversal, my husband had a vasectomy about two years ago for $750 and he just go reversed about a month ago for $5,850.  And that is not including the expense for just traveling to that doctor.  If we had done the reversal locally it would have cost us $15,000.  On top of that the chance of getting pregnant after a vasectomy reversal or by using his frozen sperm is lower.  Also insurance does not pay for either.  I would research into it and show him.  Getting a vasectomy would be very unwise.

let him know of the cost of invitro fertilaztion, and i guaruntee you his mind will chaange, and h**l opt for the old fashioned way of getting pregnant =)

It's an odd thing thing to think about at such a young age, who am I to judge though? Anyway, I don't think any doctor will perform a vasectomy on him due to his age. I may be wrong. He really needs to think this through.

This guy needs to get his head on straight.  You need to do some tall talking to help him see the error of his ways.  That is a very, very unwise decision.
