My bicycle gears seem to be misaligned. What can I DO? HELP?

It has a Shimano Tourney system

It seems to be rubbing off the thing with the Hook cable attached to it, above the crank.

What can I do?

Should I do it myself?

Id go to a shop to have it adjusted.

I'm always amazed by the people who answer "take it to the shop."  Anyone can do that, and wouldn't need to go to Yahoo answers to know that.

You need to adjust the front derailleur, and you can do it yourself if you have minimal mechanical skills and/or know how to follow directions.

Begin with the first link below, the Park Tool how-to, then take a look at the video link.

No special tools required for this repair, just screwdrivers and hex wrenches, and if you want to be knowledgeable about your bicycle it's a good repair to learn to do yourself.

I agree with the person who suggested thar you should take it in to a bike shop.

Cool bike shops will show you how to fix it if you ask them  to show you.

I find most. bike maintenance to be D.I.Y. (do it yourself). So, once you learn, if it happens again, you'll be able to fix it yourself.

Either way, I'm sure it'll be a pretty inexpensive fix.
