Ok it's been six weeks since I had surgery on my ankle and my big toe plus several other toes are numb. My toes really hurt and I have told my doctor. Will this go away by itself or might I be headed back for more surgery?

  1. Maybe you have nerve damage.

  2. It could possibly go away. That's something that your doctor should tell you. It could be from nerve irritation from the surgery. It can take a lot of time for things to heal after surgeries...

  3. I had ankle surgery about 6 months ago and still have pain/tingling in my toes but it's getting better than it was for the first couple of months.  The dr told me that I wouldn't know how much of the nerve damage is permanent until after a year.

From what I've been told - the nerves are the last part to heal after surgery so give it some more time.

    Good Luck in your recovery!
