  1. unless you're planning on getting rid of it keep it inside in a tank the tank should be WIDE enough that you could fit about 5 or 6 maybe 7 turltes inside

also if hes/shes a water turtle the water should be 2 to 3 shell widths deep

and because this is a captive turtle dont put it in the wild its use to you handing it food and such the poor things instincts might not kick in =[

  2. Ok when mine got big I got a kiddy wading pool and kept them in that. In the winters..we have mild ones in Calif I would put them in the garage.

When its outside you must have half in shade and half in the sun and stack or contruct some cement bricks or rocks so he can bask in the sunlight. Toss in a feww goldfish for him to chase and eat and toss some leafy greens in a few times a week and you could keep the turtle.

Just beware of birds of prey in the day and depending on where you live raccoons , possums,,foxes and coyotes will eat them...Get some chicken wire for over it for saftey is a good idea. Make it so the turtle can get on the rocks and bask..

If you can't keep him check out Contact the “herpetologicalsocieties.com, for a turtle society and vet in your city and state

  3. IF U DONT WANT HIM ANY MORE CALL THE  ANIMAL SHELTER.  SO SOME BODY ELSE COULD ADOPT HIM/HER.

  4. DO NOT I repeat DO NOT (I wish I could change font sizes here) release your turtle into the wild. 5 years of being fed and cared for probably from the time s/he hatched and not knowing how to find food on it's own or evade predators. Do you want to KILL it? You should have taken into consideration the adult size of your turtle before getting it. If you can't afford to get it a larger enclosure than it has now you need to find someone to take it from you who can take proper care of it.

Sorry if you don't like the way I put it, but it's the plain truth.

  5. if you have him a tank in your house he should be fine as long as its big enough to hold him i wouldnt let it go since it relies on you to feed it
