Question:

My bike's brakes have been making odd noises when I use them

I have a mongoose bmx bike and I just rewired the whole brake system and got new brake pads. The brakes work great but when I use them it vibrates the whole bike and makes a squeeking sound throughout the whole time I use it. At first I thought it was because the new brake pads haven't been used at all so its normal, but I got an older set of pads and replaced the new ones but the brakes still made the same sound. When I use the brakes the whole bike starts vibrating and a really annoying squeeking sound starts and it gets louder and worse the more its used. What solutions can are there for me to fix it? I already to it to a local bike shop and they said its just the new brake pads. but even with old brake pads it does the same thing. Thanks in advance!

  1. i think the cables are too tight

  2. Did your local bike shop check if your wheels are true?  If they're not that could be the reason for you bike to shake.  Or you may need to repack the bearings in the hubs of your wheels.  If you put a lot of miles on a bike and are particularly hard on it (as is the case with mountain/bmx bikes) the bearings tend to get loose overtime and your wheels can start to have a lot of side to side play.
