chain so it was in a fixed gear. HE said just don't try to change the gears. He unscrewed two screws of this silver guide down by the main chain, pulled the gear wire, and it was fixed. I got a flat, and the bike shop messed it up again. HOW do I repeat what my buddy did? I can get to the screws, unscrew them, and move the guide over, but it falls right back? What did my buddy do to hold the chain from skipping?

  1. I'm assuming you want a fixed gear bike.i.e. a bike that will stay in one gear all the time. The way he did that was tighten the screws that

limit the throw on the rear derailleur.Just find the two screws (they are about 1/4 inch apart) shift into the gear you want to ride in,then tighten the two screws, that way you won't be able to shift until you loosen the screws again.I hope this answers your question.
