Question:

My bike doesnt steer straight.?

When i ride my bike, I'll let go of the handlebar while riding.

It seems like i would always drift to the side. Even when I'm on flat land, I cant ride straight without holding on to my handle bars.

I own a 2005 Trek 1200 Road. I've kinda notice this because when I push my bike from the saddle, it doesn't steer straight.

Nothing is loose at all, do you think something could be out of line? I'm an experienced rider and I rarely get this type of problem.

  1. could be that one side of the wheel is worn down causing it to swerve to one side

    get knew wheels

  2. Why would you want to let go of the handlebars anyway? I understand if you're going up a ramp and do a no hander but while riding? why?

  3. Stand facing the bike with the wheel between your legs.  Hold onto the handlebars. Are they in line with the wheel?  Sometimes it's as simple as pulling the handlebars a little to be in line with the wheel.

  4. I do suggest taking the bike to a repair shop.

If you have no problems riding in a straight line with your hands on the bars, we may assume that your wheels are true and aligned.

You may have a problem with your headset.  This is not going to be obvious from the outside.  Have your bike shop check it out along with the more obvious matter of your wheel true and alignment.

  5. Check your wheels again, sounds like a rim may be bent..?

  6. fix it

  7. so if it isn't straight, would you describe the steer as q***r?

  8. Take it to a repair shop.  Yahoo answers isn't going to help you at all.

  9. The front wheel is ... mmm... how can i say that... not straight... what you have to do is to hold the thing where you put your hands on and ask someone to help you and get the wheel straight... (sorry... im not an english tative speaker)

1.-Hold the "handle" hard... (as if u were to give a ride on your bike) and someone else has to set the wheel straight for u.

  10. fix it ;)

  11. Check the adjustment on your rear wheel. make sure it is straight (Square to the bike rear suspension).

  12. Either the front wheel is crooked on the forks or your handlebars aren't lined up with your forks.

  13. it might be down to you?

if the wheels centered and true then its got to be down to your balance just practice practice practice lol

  14. take it to a bike shop

  15. heres a good idea take some place and fix it

  16. Find a shallow puddle in a parking lot to ride through. Ride a straight line. Stop and look back. You should see the front tire track moving back and forth across the rear tire's track. If you see the tires tracking in two separate lines & not crossing the way you'd expect, the bike is dog-tracking.  It's caused by one or both wheels being improperly dished, or by the frame being bent.

Other causes of pulling to one side can be cable routing pulling on the handlebars, or worn headset bearings.

  17. q***r eye for the Straight Bike?

  18. something is probably out of line ..

i would take it to a BMX shop near you to get it looked at though .

  19. well this happens alot but its probley just something about how you pushed it or ride no handed
