  1. It is worth the wait though. Once the valves are adjusted and the bike "tweaked", it will run so much different that you'll swear it isn't the same machine..

  2. My first advice is to learn the basic adjustments required and maintainence needed so you can save yourself some cash down the road.  Nothing wrong with an initial service at the dealer, but it is costly.

If your not already proficient, learn to change your own oil, make cable adjustments, chain (if you have one) etc...  Along with that, learn what to look for on your particular bike when it comes to periodic inspections.   These items may or may not include; checking your spokes, bearing wear, nuts/bolts that might loosen up, tire pressures, brake fluid, drive chain or drive shaft inspection, and so forth.

Many of these items are things you would want to check fairly often anyway, especially if you are riding a lot of miles.   The motorcycling community is very friendly when it comes to helping one another.   You'll always find help by frequenting the online forums forums for your specific bike.

In the meantime, go out in the garage and clean up a nice little area to bring your baby home too :)

BTW, what kind of bike & is it your first?

  3. Cheat on the b***H.

  4. I sat in the lounge and waited for mine.

Looks like it's too late for that, though.

Got a catalog, or three? Spend some time looking at all the goodies.

Maybe pick out the next accessory.

  5. That is what i refer to as PMS.

    Parked Motorcycle Syndrome.

In the shop, up for the winter, or any other reason you can't ride. PMS
