  1. u probably left it in the rain a long time or didnt clean ur bike regularly. its most probably chromoly steel.

  2. There are a couple of reasons a chrome plated frame would rust...

First, if the bike was a low end model, they do what is called "flash plating". This allows space between the chrome particles which will rust. Your entire bike isn't made of chrome- it is chrome plated.

Next, the frame wasn't prepared well before plating and didn't allow the crome to adhere well.

Finally, even the smalles nick or scrape could compromise the chrome. Take care of it! Clean the rust off carefully with water and an SOS or Brillo pad, rinse well with water and allow to dry, then wax the frame with a good car paste wax on a regular basis... like every 2 weeks..

  3. it is steel, steel rust pretty easily. you should get and anti rust paint, sand paper it first remove all the rust then apply the anti rust paint and then a finish coat

  4. the first answer is good and right.  to clean it off just use a rag and some soap and hot water and after you get it all clean keep it indoors and dry
