  1. toe your brakes in. I keep an expired debit card in my toll kit for just this pupose. soory, even if you knew my PIN, it'd do you know good. like I said, it's expired. besides, I'm broke! anyway, loosen your pad, place the card at the backwards end of the pad, between the pad and rim, aply enough pressure to your brake handle to hold the card in place and tighten the pad. this will make the forward part of the pad touch the rim first, and will greatly reduce your barking brakes!

  2. You need to adjust the brake pads so they "toe in".  The specifics vary, but brake pads are mounted so they can be angled (an eccentric on the mounting bolt usually). have a look at yours and make sure the front of the pad is a little closer to the rim than the back.

Presto ... no squeal.  This assumes you don't have the pads worn down completely, in which case the noise is due to metal on metal scraping. If the latter, replace the pads.

  3. I had that problem with my bike. If you dont know exactley whats wrong and want to know for sure-do what I did and took it into a bike shop to get it repaired-and presto! now my bike is as good as new! And yours will be too if you take it into a bike shop and have the professionals have a look at it.

  4. sounds like your brakes are worn if you look at them and see little rubber or no rubber then replace them you are killing your rims
