Pretty much self explanatory. His nose is kind of swollen and looks crusty. My dad says he is just molting but he is known for s******g up. I had my parakeets for about 2 1/2 years now and have never seen that. What's going on with him?

  1. It could be a disease called Scaly Face (also know as scaly beak, scaly foot, ect.). It's common in birds. You can get treatment for it from the vet or your local pet store. But it could also be something else. To be safe, take him to the vet.

  2. Malnutrition.

Seeds should only be 25% of their food.

Clean their water dish everyday- like wipe it out because it gets nasty even if you can't see it.  Bacteria grows in their seeds so dump out all the hulled shells and clean out their cage.

Start feeding them vitamins made for birds (not people vitamins) and fresh vegetables and fruits.  There are websites that tell how to get them to eat it too. Just look it up.

    Don't feed them avocado's!

  3. Take hime to the vet.

  4. oh thats no good :-( he might have a cold or sinus infection go to a vet just to make sure

  5. do u mean his beak?

if so then he might have something called scaly beak.

you can get stuff at the vet  to solve this.

also you can hang up a bit of cuttlefish in his cage to file the scales down a bit

  6. Must be some weird bird to have a nose.  All the ones I've seen have beaks.

Take the little fellow to the vet.
