  1. Birds need to molt every year during which time they lose their older feathers and replace them with new feathers.

You will be able to see white pointy "pin feathers" in between your bird's feathers as the new ones grow in.  The feather comes up through this material, and birds are often cross and uncomfortable during this time of year.

Depending upon what type of bird you have, make sure you either offer a bird bath (shallow dish/saucer of water) or mist your bird with lukewarm water every day during the molt.  This softens the feathers for your bird to "preen" them (you will notice your bird "zipping" up their feathers wherever they can reach them) and helps the new ones to grow in.

Give your bird the best foods you can, and lots of veggies and fruit, and perhaps a bird vitamin such as PRIME sold in pet stores.

    Good luck.

  2. You need a few more details...

maybe it is going through a "molt" in which new feathers come in and old ones fall out.

Or if it is plucking out it's own feathers to the point where it has bald areas  it may be bored or there may some irritation on it's skin, best to see a vet if this is the case.

  3. Sounds like it is Molting.

  4. it might have mites or molting or picking his/her feathers out i recently had a bird die because it had mites or some other type of illness get a bird protector and hope it recovers itself or the bird protector helps

  5. Lots of birds are molting right now. (Mine are tons of downs everyday.)  It's just time for them to get new feathers.  On the other hand, it can also be that he's plucking himself due to itchy skin, stress, or  boredom.

  6. It could be bored. Some birds pluck their feathers when they get bored.
