Ok so i got cockatials and my calmest one the girl ( i got both of them a boy and girl like three days ago ) and i put her on my shoulder and she bit my ear! She was playing with my earring at first then she start pecking my ear! Was she doing that as a sign of affection or a threat?

  1. To prevent her from biting again, try taking out the earring.  If she bites you again, she could be trying to get your attention.  If you don't want to have to worry about a bird that bites you on the ear, don't put her on your shoulder.  Most bird experts are against putting parrots on your shoulders.  You could have dominance issues with your bird.

  2. boys and girls kept together will bond more closely than when a single bird has a human. my advice- give one of them back so you have a more devoted pet.

  3. maybe she was trying to get the earring out for herself

  4. she was probably just playing with it. cockatiels are not really supposed to be on shoulders anyways. no earrings when parrots are around. they try to pull them out.
