My bird laid an egg. If i touch the egg will she abandon it?

My parakeet laid an egg. I want to check if its fertile b/c there are 2 male birds in the cage with her but they are not in love with her. If i take the egg out of the nest box will she get mad and abandon it? Also if it is fertile will she wait till they all are laid b4 she sits on the eggs? one last thing... how do i know which one is the dad if its fertile bc neither of the males are associating with her. Thanks so much !!!

I dunno bout the rest but if you touch the egg, she'll abandon it a 100%.

I don't know, but if you touch the egg, the bird will surely abandon it because you will get the human scent on it.

It will probably abandon it.

Birds connect to their offspring by sense of smell.  If you touch the eggs, your personal scent will rub off on the egg.  The mother will refuse to care for the egg because she will not recognize the scent.

Maybe if you wear protective gloves, but I'm really not sure.  I definitely agree that you should call a vet.if you need something specific.

Well, if you touch it she will bite you for sure!  Just wait a week or two and she will know if it's fertile or not.
