Question:

My bird might be egg-bound.. help?!?

I asked a question a couple of hours ago asking what my bird might have and people told me she might be egg-bound... they told me to use a warm cloth on her vent area.. How do i do that? do i take her out of the cage? Do i just put it at the bottom of the cage? and how am i supposed to keep it like that the whole car-ride their? i cant take her out of the cage while in the car........ help me please! :o thanks in advance

  1. What I would do is until you can get her to vet increase the humidity in the room she is in. You can also get a little syringe like a 1cc and get some mineral oil at the drugstore. Fill the syringe a little bit with the oil and insert into her vent. Only the tip and let the oil go in. This will not hurt her and should help oil things up to get egg out. Do you see the egg? If you are taking her to vet forget the warm cloth on her vent. Just get her there. There is no way you can hold it on her vent and drive. What you might do is put a hot water bottle or a soda bottle filled with warm water next to her if she is at bottom of cage. make sure warm not hot. Good luck.
