my baby raven, about 1 1/2 months old, all of sudden got really sick. he was fine at 12pm today, and when i get home at 630pm, he very lethargic and practically dying. i mean i know he's dying but what could of caused it? all of the local animal hospitals are closed so i cant have em save him or euthanize him. I'm trying to make him as comfortable as possible to let him pass easily but I'd really like to know whats going on with him. he had this brown liquid come out of his r****m, but it wasn't blood...

  1. Do get the bird onto a heating pad now.  Or under a light to keep him very warm.

I am so sorry this is happening to you and him.

This sounds like a serious bacterial infection which if you could find a Certified Avian Vet - they may be able to get antibiotics into him and save him IF you have a couple hundred dollars.

Do make him very comfortable.  Do not force food or water.  Just keep him warm.  If he dies, he will soon be flying through the fields of the gods.  Blessed be.

  2. i'm feeling pity on it..... but, sorry i'm not a veterinarian so...i suggest u to bring it to the veterinarian because he or she knows better. if i give an advice, tips or what so ever, i may make it becomes worse. ask to the professional! i hope it will recover soon..

  3. First of all,I don't think it was a raven,as they are all black, not with tan b*****s,and are way bigger then the bird you had.Secondly, the bird didn't look very good in the last pic you posted. It had bald areas on it's face. I don't know what's wrong with it.It could be the wrong diet ( what are you feeding it? - you never did say),it could be parasites or a bacterial infection. Birds are fragile, and without the proper diet, they can go downhill very fast. I'm sorry about the little bird, whatever it was.

  4. That brown liquid sounds like f***s. He may have eaten something he shouldn't have. Perhaps something got into his cage, or someone accidentally fed him something strange? Birds are very fragile and they get sick easily. Be careful when handling him, for your own health too. Wash your hands before and after every time you touch him. Since the animal centers are closed, the best you can do is make him comfortable and hope he survives the night. Make sure he has water, in case he gets thirsty. Cusion him with towels and blankets.

Also, try not to make him nervous. If he gets worked up when handled, just let him be. Just be with him for as long as you can and then get some sleep. I've had birds die on me, one completely randomly. I just woke up and checked on him and he was dead. I'm very sorry for you, and I hope you raven is okay. I just lost a hamster a month ago. It was really difficult because he was very sick. Just remember, if he passes on he'll be done with the pain and he'll go to a paradise where he has endless room to soar. Good luck.

  5. get him in a warm towel, and if you have a red light, put it over the cage. get him to the vet tomorrow
