hey,

my birds have eggs and their cage is in my bedroom which is nearly always air conditioned as I live in a very hot island. Now I know the eggs are meant to be kept warm, so should I take them outside in the shade or out of the room during the day when the air condition is on?

please do help me, i dont want to kill these unborn chicks

PS: my birds are society finches

thanks so much

  1. Birds can get sick from drafts, if you take them outside make sure they have plenty of water all the time.  If they are kept indoors try covering their cage with a sheet or blanket at night.

  2. Your birds know how to incubate their eggs. unless they're directly in front of a vent, don't worry about it!

  3. The parents will keep the  eggs and the chicks warm.  Just make sure they are not in the draft from the vent.  If necessary, close the vent.  Other wise, don't worry.  Taking them outside and then bringing them back inside...hot, cool, hot, cool...is the worst thing you can do.  Just let the parents do their job.  Please read my profile.

  4. Cold air will definately affect the hatching of the eggs. Usually new surroundings will bother/frighten a bird. I suggest you take them outside at night, so when day light approaches, they can slowly adjust to the outdoor surroundings.

  5. Hi,

Yeah i would take them outside, as it may affect the temparature, or the humidity anything really and if these aren't righ the eggs may die or not hatch. So take them outside.
