The pill package says that it expires September '08. Is it still effective or is it practically no good?

  1. It's effective until next month.

  2. Get a new prescription. Not worth messing around with expiration dates on birth control.

  3. You should ask your doctor but I've heard that they are effective for at least 6 months past their expiration date.  An expiration date is not a magical date that somehow makes pills completely ineffective, but it may be the beginning of when they won't be 100% what they were when they were first manufactured. Of course, you don't want to take any chances with your birth control so ask an expert!
