My birthday party: is only four guests a bad idea or a good idea?

For my 18th, I'm having an outdoor film screening (ala the Film Four competition recently) with themed food. Every guest brings along a film and we watch them all into the night.

So far, it's me, my boyfriend, and my friends Jess and Ciaran (who are a couple).

Is only four guests a good or bad idea?

Pros:

- we're all sensible people who won't be too loud for the neighbours or trash the place (I hate MySpace/Skins style parties)

- we're all movie mad, so none of us will wander off or stop paying attention

- easier to have sleeping space

- with all of us bringing a film, that's a sensible 8 hours of film watching max (if the films are 2hrs long) or 6 hours of film watching max (if the films are 1hr30mins long).

- with an even number of close-to-home people (me and my bf) and my college friends (Jess and Ciaran) it won't be segregated

CONS:

- could it seem too much like a double-date?

- would I look like I had no friends (to J and C)?

- would it be a weaker party?

It's your day... You are the boss.

Do whatever you like... and its a very good idea to celebrate that special occasion to people most dearest to you.

If you feel J & C might think you hav no friend you can tell them why you didnt want many guest  closest friends will understand and will respect  your decision.

That's actually a good idea. Less stress and cooking for you. Having too many guests is tiresome.

I think a party with just a few of your closest friends is a wonderful idea!   Why hassle all the noise, cost & chaos from a huge party of people that aren't that close to you?  This way you have time and money to spend on the people who really matter to you.......
