  1. Food allergies. You can't just change her food, you have to change the food to one that doesn't contain the ingredients that are causing the allergic reaction, corn, grains, things like that.

  2. check with your vet,

    as for the feet nibbling,

    every dog does that

  3. my maltese does that too. our vet told us its nothing. so probably its itchy .

  4. allergy probably doesnt have to be in her food she could be allergic to anything from the stuff you use to clean the carpet to a flower you have in the backyard , do you live next to a field ? could be stuff they spray next door , could be a pest control spray dogs are like us they can be allergic to anything , it could be the soap you use

  5. Try changing the food to holistic food. I had the same problem with my maltese  but she would pull all the hair off her feet and legs and I got her on holistic food and is very healthy now. She only goes to the vets now for her yearly shots and her temperment, coat etc, has improved tremendously. I give her Solid Gold wee bits and Eagle Pack. I mix them together and she loves them. You can only buy this at pet stores. They have alot of different ones to choose from. Good luck.

  6. My dog does this too, and it' s because of allergies. Allergies and skin problems are common in Goldens (my dog) and Labs. This is why prednisone worked. If it is bad, put her on a dose of Benadryl... that's what my vet prescribed every time, and it works. Just makes them drowsy, just like people. See if that gives her some relief.

  7. Who prescribed the Prednisone?  This doesn't sound right at all.  Have you checked her feet closely to see if she stepped in something painful like glass or something else that is cutting or itching her.  Check her nails and see if they are long and curling into the pads of her feet.  Try to check between the pads for sign of anything foreign.  And Prednisone in a dog's system is dangerous if you don't know about it and she has to be weaned off of it slowly by a vet.  Take your dog to the vet ASAP.

  8. This is usually an allergy symptom, either food or environmental.  My parents' dog that chewed her feet ended up being allergic to grass!  What did you change the food from and to?  If there were common ingredients, changing the food would do you no good.    Have you tried a grain-free food, perhaps a 'fish and potato' formula?  Grain allergies are the most common in dogs, especially corn and wheat, followed by soy, beef, and chicken.  Check your dog food ingredients and see if corn, wheat, soy, beef, or chicken are ingredients- if so, look for something else- maybe Wellness Core Ocean would be a good place to start?  If changing to a fish and potato doesn't help, ask your vet about alternatives to prednisone to treat the allergy, or about allergy testing to ID the cause.

  9. If your dog is suffering why not try putting peanut butter in her food...or else you can try a antihistamine for a few days...any brand will do.
