My blackberry pearl will not turn on...?

everytime i press the power on button on my t-mobile blackberry phone, it turns on for a second showing the hourglass picture in the middle of the screen..and then it turns off and the light thing on the top right hand corner comes on

this is irratating me and i need to use my phone today for a very important call. is there a way i can fix my phone today?

Sorry you are having such a problem.  Unfortunately it sounds like your phone has given up the ghost.  What I would do if you have time to fool around with it would be to use the desktop software to reload the device software.  If you don't know how to do this, you will need to contact your carrier's help desk. If you don't have time to fiddle with this, then get the ball rolling for a replacement by calling your carrier.  The device comes with a standard one year warranty (if you are the original purchaser) and the cell phone company can have a replacement out to you in a matter of days.  Sorry I did not have better news for you.   Hope I have been helpful.

Assuming that you have tried leaving it on the charger for an hour or so and it still will not turn on, I would say you have a bad battery.
