Question:

My blister infected?

i got a blister on my foot from running cuz i kept using cotton socks...well anyways the liquid stuff came out and it doesnt hurt anymore but its like redder than before and once in a while i get like this itchy feeling on it (but not all the time). How do i know if it's infected? or is this normal stuff?? and i have a 5k race in like 2 days, what can i do to make it heal faster?

  1. Hi, what you can do is apply rubbing alcohol to the sore (disinfecting it), then use antibiotic ointment secured by a large, stretchy type of bandaid.  The ointment will help accelerate the healing process, and I would remove the bandaid overnight to let the air get at the sore as well.  Change the bandaid every four hours to get maximum benefit, and be sure to re-disinfect, and re-apply the ointment.


  2. wow...you don't think that a nickel sized blister is big?

    i would just put antiseptic on it and cover it with a ban aid to keep it from getting infected if it isn't already.

  3. Leslie is right about how to take care of it. I just wanted to add that it sounds perfectly normal and not infected.
