A bluebird couple have examined the box, but whether or not they are the original... I think not.

Should I clean out the box, assuming that these are not to hatch? ...or should I wait longer to see?

  1. I think if the parents were coming back they would already be sitting on the eggs, I would clean the box out and get it ready for the next couple that are interested. If the eggs have been there for almost a month they aren't going to hatch.

  2. If these eggs have been in there that long..they were obviously infertile and are not going to hatch.  You should clean out the old nest so that another pair can use it..or the same pair may use it again...however, you may not see another nest in there until next spring as breeding season is over.  The birds may still use the box to roost in occasionally.
