My boat has been in dry storage for three years, but I winterized it before putting it up. Will it still run?

What will I need to do to get it ready for the lake when the weather warms up.

  1. if its an io drive check the seal around the drive and make sure it aint dried out if it is it will leak make sure you have no old feul in it when you try to start it it should start if it was winterized correctly but thats a long time to sit without being run if its mixed gas or oil inj 2 stroke then you may have gummed up oil in you carbs they will need cleaning would help to know more about engine type and make but this should give you a start


  2. i would drain the carbs first and charge/change the battery. then change the oil.(if its an inboard) then try to start it! there is only one way to find out dude.whats the worst that can happen? it wont start. just do it...do it

    ps after it starts then id chuck it in the water and see if you had any leaks. go for it

  3. Ask mechanic at marina that has your boat. He will know what kind of boat motor you have and can ck it out for you
