My boat stays blank when i accelerate?

i have a 22' bayliner and when i take it out on idle or a little more it runs good but when igo to 30 rpm its skips what can it be

  1. need to know what kind of engine you've got.

    if by "skips" you mean it feels like you hit a stump, then lower unit is likely.

    otherwise, high-speed misfire can be caused by either intermittent ignition failure or fuel starvation.

    some things you can do to troubleshoot before taking it in:  inspect your fuel tank for water or debris, check fuel filter(s), inspect fuel lines for signs of aging, stiffness, cracks, inspect all the visible wiring on the engine for burned/chafed/missing insulation, corrosion and loose connections.


  2. You didn't give model or year, nor type of drive, But I'll bet that the problem is in the lower unit.  The skip is because the drive gears are momentarily jumping out of gear.  The key is if you slow down it stops. .... It will only get worse in time.  Find a good mechanic and explain "exactly" what happens.  This is easy to miss if your not very experienced.  Good Luck!!
