Question:

My boat trailer bends, is this ok?

I have a small 14ft fiberglass speedboat with a 40hp mercury. My trailer is very homemade looking and when the trailer is loaded, it flexes and the main part joining both axles bends. So much so that the wheels are visibly tilted inwards at the top. Is this ok to do a 450 mile journey? Should I weld another steel tube across to strengthen?

  1. If it is flexing that much you should probably reinforce it. Have it inspected to see if it is safe to be hauling your boat on. I see broken trailers all the time and it is usually because they are overloaded.
