I always work 2nd shift. My boss just asked me if I could start working 3rd shift two days a week. I got nervous and I said yes but I really don't want to do it. What's a good way to tell her that?

  1. why does your boss make you so nervous?

you could write a letter just make an excuse up or

say you cant do that shift due to personal commitments

  2. Heres the thing, economy is really slow now so whatever job offers you get, you will just have to get used to it, if anything, compromise with your boss and try to work something out.

  3. just say no I'm tired

  4. Go back to your boss and find out exactly the reasons she wants you to work 3rd shift two days a week.  It might be a really compelling reason - more money, more responsibility, can't afford to keep you on 2nd shift 5 days a week.  You've got to find out what you will get for changing your life so radically.  Next time, don't get nervous.  Ask your boss to explain the situation and say you need time to consider the consequences. You also need to know how long this will go on.

For now, you'll have to tell your boss you're reconsidering because (your reason - could be responsibility for children, no transportation, dangerous area, broken sleep patterns under this scheme).  See if it is possible to back out.  You said yes and might just be stuck with it or lose your job.
