My boss has given me a £40 per week pay-rise. Now he's saying that I must have lunch with him every day..?

Is this right? Can he do this?

He's already given me the rise. I'm not sure what to do & is there any harm in having lunch with him if he's paying anyway?

I wouldn't go for lunch with him today and now he's acting strange

  1. no i don't think its right he is obviously using his authority or trying too,you shouldn't have to worry about him,theres enough in the world to worry about,especially like you say what next,l*****g your key board that's disgusting did he not see that programme about the germs etc,well he might get a bad belly then he cant eat,that's it,put something on your keyboard lemon juice or something lol,give him a bitter taste..its not right at all.

    Unless it's an occasional working lunch, there is no way he can enforce that.

    I'd contact the Labour Board or equivalent wherever you live.

    He can give you the pay rise, that's fine.

    BUT he cannot give you the pay-rise on the condition you have lunch with him. Tis black-mail, not right. Dirty/lonely old man that he is.

    Also, if he says that he has to take the pay-rise back because you wont have lunch with him, then that is also illegal. Bad man.

    Is there a higher authority at your work you can talk to about this?

  15. He seems to like you too much. I would be very careful where you tread. If you think it would be okay to go to lunch with him, if hes paying of course, but make sure you of wary of what he is doing or how he is talking to you.

    Ive read your other questions and it sounds like he is harassing you if he is touching your hair and shoulders without permission it is definitly harssment. If you have a good friend at work, ask them to keep an eye on you, so if you do report him, you will have a witness. You could try buying some secret cameras off Ebay since they are better quality then a web cam. You could hide them up your sleeve when you are in the office, or in the corner of a room or in some wiring. He is much less likely to notice them then a web cam or alter them. If you can get plenty of evidence then you will have a good case and you can easily get him taken down, just make sure if you do use cameras to make it really clear that you don't want to be touched or anything yet be subtle and look away from him and make miffed faces.

    A spy pen is a good idea completly secret and you can get good evidence, becasue he is hardly going to suspect a pen to be a camera .

  16. That's not right...He shouldn't be bribing you like that but if he wanted to do anything dodgy he'd not be asking you for lunch but to go somewhere where there are not any people.

    Is he lonely? He might just be looking for a friend. If he's not lonely then I think he just has a crush on you and doesn't know how to go about it or something.

    I think you should try going for lunch with him but if anything goes wrong, leave and report him if necessary.

No, he cannot force you to eat with him every day, just because he gave you a raise.  Now if you knew he would just simply buy your mean and not be a stalker or a psycho.  Hey I would go for it, free meals at the expense of my boss.   But since it seems like he really does like you, I am certain, it would not turn out very well if you starting allowing him to buy your meals, he could be come obsessed.
