My boss has gone to Brazil for a month and the travel agent told him he would get mugged AT LEAST once there?

I personally have never had any qualms travelling anywhere. What do you think of the information he has been given?

I just spent 9 days in Rio's Copacabana area.  Your boss's traveI agent sounded like he/she was sidingg on the ultra cautious side.  While in Rio, I did not go down small dark streets.  Most restaurants and vendors were usually telling us to not go on to the beach after 2100.  During the day there was a good presence of Policia Militar, Tourista Police, and Policia Federal.

violence is everywhere you can get mugged at any place, i live in Brazil right now and that has never happened to me

He'll get mugged if he's not smart about what he carries around with him. I lived in Brasil for quite some time and true, tourists get mugged sometimes...but only when they walk around with cameras all over them etc. Just tell him to be very alert...and don't flash his US Dollars around.

Rio can be dangerous, but I still think the agent's comment was stupid. I've been to Brazil many times and never been mugged.

i went on vacation there with a friend..  2 22 year old girls .. walkin the streets alone..   and we were fine  .. hehe

just play it safe.. and walk with the crowd

It depends where he is going in Brazil. There are some bad places in Brazil that you will get mugged or shot. i would tell your boss to make sure and double check that he is going to a save place.

I live in Brazil for 19 years (I'm 19 years old) and I've never been mugged? Does it answer your question? Now if he dresses like a gringo on holiday...

Ive been many times and wandered all over even into some very

impoverished villages,and have met only good people.

I love Brazil,and Brazilians.

Whereever one goes in this country or out of it if you walk around asking for problems youll get it.

leave the bling bling at home,leave the bulk of your money in the bank,in certain areas try and blend.
