My boss is only interested in doing the stuff that she doesn't have to get her hands dirty. I baby sit and I have heard her say she doesn't want to work in that room. What I'm sure happen and has happend before was that she could not find anyone and she didn't want to work the shif. She phones me up telling 2 days b4 the shift and tells me she scheduled me in. I told her the shifts I can work before this happen and that day wasn't on it. She kind of in a round about way said I she was giving me holidays soon so I should take the shift, she also said she was leaving on her holidays the day before the shift. As I worked the shift in she walked, I had been working a lot this week and was tired, however I took the shift anyway!! Did I have a right to say no.

  1. you have every right to say no.  im sure when you filled out your application you noted your days of availability.  now, the occassional call-in is okay and they should be happy you volunteered to come in on your day off.  but if they're abusing that, then you should refer them to said application and just let them know in a respectful manner that you wont be available every time they need someone.
