Ask him what's wrong, if it's just your father and brothers, try to convince him his fears are baseless(are they?), if he's just using it as an excuse, well just think of it as good riddance

Just ignore him for a while. This may make him take more notice of you. Pay more attention to other people when he is around and do not go out of your way to be nice to him. If this does not work then forget him and look elsewhere. "There are many pebbles on the beach" as the saying goes!
