My boyfriend broke up with me because of my borderline personality disorder?

he called me up last night when i was sleeping and left a voice mail that he wants to break up because of how much we fight, then reason we fight alot is because of my borderline personality disorder and im going to start get into counsiling for it and he knows that. he said that once i get better from it and figure out how to deal with things better then we will get back together. he also said that he has stuff to deal with and he cant do it while were dating. i dont know what to do? he says he still loves me but i dont understand why he would break up with me if he still loves me

Personally I think that if he really did love you he would stick by you and help you with your counseling and be there for you. That's just me though, or what I would do if my GF had a disorder.

He may love you, but he is unwilling to continue the relationship because of the fighting.  Whether or not the fighting is symptomatic of the BPD, he doesn't want to continue

You need to focus on you and getting things under control or at least to a point where symptoms  are manageable Counseling may help, don't rule out medication   It is really hard to deal with fighting all the time. Excellent decision to go to counseling. Good luck to you!!

Some people are fair weather friends.  I have lost many a BF from my bipolar disorder and the depression that comes with it.  I now have a BF who has not left when I was having a hard time.  I am in DBT (dialetical behavioral therapy) it helps with Boaderline Personality Disorder.  I have features of that my doctor said.

I hope you feel better soon all you can do is try to recover from your breakup and move on.  Guys sometimes say stuff like they will get back together or that they still love you when they really do not they just want to move on.  Sorry to say.  Just take care of you.
