My boyfriend gave me a promise ring?

My boyfriend is 23 and I'm almost 17. We've been dating for five months today. We've known each other personally for seven months. But three months before we were formally introduced, we knew who each other were and really liked each other.

We are both waiting until marriage to have s*x. I am falling in love with him and he knows that. He already tells me all the time that he loves me. I know he's not playing around either. He's all I could hope for.

Tonight, he asked me to marry him. I was thinking are you crazy I'm still a kid but I told him that I wasn't nearly ready for marriage besides the facts I can't yet. He understood then asked me if I would accept the take the ring as a promise to him that I am committed to the realtionship and will someday marry him. I said yes. He said he asked my parents and they were cool wih it.

Don't feel bad, hold onto him, you are lucky to have a man like him who will wait for you because you are young. Wait till your older, you may not have second thoughts now but you might later. That ring is GORGEOUS. Congrats :D

I don't think that you made a mistake at all.  I feel that when you love someone, you just know.  I think that it was totally great of you to tell him that you were way too young, but that you will accept the promise ring.  And don't feel bad about him spending the money.  He obviously thinks the best of you, and you are worth that money to him, and more.  and kudos for waiting until marriage for s*x.  That is a very brave and couragous thing to do.  good luck and congrats on the ring!

Other people can't tell you if you were right or wrong in taking the ring because no one knows how you feel deep down. It sounds to me just from reading this question that you guys are really committed to eachother and really care for one another but I am just basing that off of a question. If you think that you love him and will marry him some day and you feel it is right in your heart to take the ring then it is right. It sounds to me like you are a very lucky girl for having such a caring and loving boyfriend. :)
