My boyfriend gets annoyed when I use the word "like"....... does that make any sense?

He says I say "like" too much in my conversations.

Do you know anyone else that is bothered by that?

I know a few people who find it to be their pet peeves. It's okay sometimes, but not if you use it every other word, then of course the person will be annoyed by it.

Are you annoyed by :

Today I LIKE went to LIKE get my nails done and LIKE the lady who did my nails had LIKE blonde hair and it was LIKE pretty.

It doesn't mean he doesn't love you- it's just maybe you should cut back on it if he's annoyed by it.

one of my old guyfriends used to say it was annoying.. but i thought he was annoying so i didnt care :)

no one else i know is bothered by it.. or at least they dont say so

well i just think tell him that it sucks to be him.

My 13 year old daughter USED to do that...notice heavy emphasis on USED to?  It drives me crazy... as I was an English Major...improper Vernacular does not compute as far as I am Concerned...over-use and/or abuse of a word is not allowed around me.  She no longer abuses the word LIKE.

it kind of just slips in every now and then. But i am NOT like one of those prissy girls who say : "Like omg, like yesterday, i went to like the mall, and i like saw the coolest shoes, and i like bought them, for like 50 dollars, and like the cashier was sooo like cute.."

everyone? used in moderation it is ok, but when people say it 87times per sentence it is irritating.

Record yourself on tape during a conversation.

Then write down exactly what you said -- every word.

Read it. You'll be annoyed by your own speech disfluency.

I sometimes do it too. It can get annoying when someone says it A LOT. I remember listening to some woman making a construction proposal and all she said was "um, um, um, UM" I counted about 20 something "ums" in just a small speech.

yes it makes sense! i hate it when people say like 5 times in one sentence!!! Sorry but its annoying.

Yeah, it does make sense. I use like way more than I should and I've been told it's kind of distracting especially when you're telling a story and you keep using like, it takes away from the story and makes it hard for the person who's listening to follow what you're saying.

Just try and refrain from it as much as you can if you don't want to sound like, annoying, hahaha
