So my boyfriend and I are really close and we've been together for a long time. He would always say that we would be together forever and it made me so happy that he wouldn't doubt at all. Now he is all like "we just have to hope God chooses to keep us together. Now I'm a major christian but I think we choose our own goals and our own spouses. Is there any bible verses that you can find that will show him that it's okay to think we will be happy together forever or even any that shows me that God does choose our path! That would be greatly accepted! Thanks!

  1. “Love is patient; love is kind

    and envies no one.

    Love is never boastful, nor conceited, nor rude;

    never selfish, not quick to take offense.

    There is nothing love cannot face;

    there is no limit to its faith,

    its hope, and endurance.

    In a word, there are three things

    that last forever: faith, hope, and love;

    but the greatest of them all is love.”

    1 Corinthians 13:4

  2. Life holds no guarantees for no one as far as being together until your ending days.  All you can do is cherish what you have together and make the best of it that will be your fondes memeory of each other.

  3. I don't know of any bible passages; but it isn't unusual for people to doubt their future after dating for a while.  Nothing is guaranteed.  I would suggest discussing his doubts - not giving him a passage - because that is only a patch on a potential problem.  Talking out his concerns/fears can only help.

  4. I've been in your same position.. My boyfriend, and i were together FOUR years .. Both very active Christians. He tried the same statement.. about God making the decisions... Sounds like he's getting ready to blame something on God, in my case at one point he said God, didn't want me, for him.. Then out of nowhere he's got a new girl.. so on and so forth! God will lead you in the right direction, but in reality you make your decisions, by leaning on your faith. In the bible as far as being together in marriage, basically get married, before you burn in lust for someone, or have s*x (obviously)... Don't let him play mind games with you, and epically using God as an excuse. Good Luck sweetheart! God Bless!

  5. why prolong things if there are doubts.

    end it now. you choose to make a commitment together, it just doesn't happen. married couples will tell you, it is a a lot of work. sounds like he isn't as interested in it lasting as he once was. don't waste your time, you want someone who knows you are the "the one."
