My boyfriend hears voices on the phone when we talk and no one else is home?

Question

me and my boyfriend will be talking on the phone and he will hear voices besides my voice.likes hes picking up other calls. does anyone know what this could be.it happens to him at my moms house and dads house.

(only awnser if u know what ur talking about! )

I've had this happen several times down through history.  The problem has generally been water in a termination box somewhere.

I'm assuming we're talking about a land line here...

Your bf should call the phone company and tell them he's picking up voices from other calls (and give them the number he's using where this problem happens), and ask them to investigate.

You could be picking up cell phone connections. Like two strangers on phones walking pass each other and then 1 person is then hearing others conversation. Wires crossing. Hope that this helps.

i just want to add one thing-

it happens to me too, when i'm on a cell phone, and the other person is too.

so.. it seems to be any phone line, my guess is that its picking up the same signal.

I think it's most common, at least for me, if I have poor signal so its searching for signal and just happens to pick up someone else's conversation.

that happens to me sometimes, it just means someone else is trying to use the phone (like ur neighbors or someone)and the wires are crossed, tell him to change the channel on his phone ...sometimes that helps!

Not really answering your question, but back in the day people used to have to share phones with other families.  Like you would share the same number with a couple neighbors and there were a different number of rings for each house.  Like if it rang once it was us, my neighbor had two short rings when someone was calling them, and the other neighbor had three short rings.  Kind of interesting that you would have to deal with that nowadays though.

Could it be just a disturbance came from the telephone network it self ?. Or is it just a "call waiting" feature of the telephone ?. Why not calling the phone company ?

oh dont worry...its nothing spooky........but it was for me at first when i was in the same situation as you.

its just other peoples connection interfering with yours...........one time a police walky talky thing interfered with my sisters radio signal.......... it's nothing to worry about...........hope this helps!!

I don't know what causes it, but I had a horrible experience a few years ago with the exact same thing. Over a period of about 2 weeks I was getting some sort of bleed through on my phone. I could hear an older man talking to a very young girl in a very inappropriate manner. It happened almost every evening when I used the phone. I was freaked out and called the phone company. The problem went away, but the horrible things I heard while trying to use my phone didn't leave my mind for a long time. Tell your boyfriend to call his phone company and report the disturbance on the line before he hears something he would rather not know........
