My boyfriend has been in jail for a year now & recently wrote me in a letter that he was sent to the "pen" but won't tell me exactly why or give me any details. I think he's done something REALLY REALLY bad and he doesn't ant to tell me. What crimes can inmates commit to get them sent to the pen and what are your thoughts on this?

  1. Kick his @ss to the kerb.

  2. He commited a Felony.

There is many ways to get into prison

Rape, Arson, Murder, Grand Theft, Burglary, Kidnap and the list goes on and on

  3. attacked an officer or dealng drugs in jail. pen means state penitentary

  4. attack an officer, dump that loser

  5. The "pen" refers to being in either a State Penitentiary or a United States Federal Penitentiary.  So that any of these crimes can cause a person to be sent to either one or the other.  It just depends upon what kind of crime he committed as to which he has been sent to.  These are a few examples of crimes that can send some to a Penitentiary.

    Murder

    Rape

    Arson

    Grand theft

    Drugs/ Intent to distribute

    Bank Robbery

    Kidnapping

    Firearms/Weapons Charges

    Money Laundering

    Mail Theft

    Embezzling

What ever he did must have been pretty bad for him to end up in a penitentiary.  This is going to have a negative impact upon his life, both while he's in the joint as well as when he's released.

I hope that this helps answer your question.  I wish you all the best.  God bless.

  6. Find a new boyfriend.

  7. Most states have a website where you can look up inmates, google: your state & inmate lookup.  If you have a few details like DOB etc.  you can find out exactly what he went to jail for.  Then decide if you really want him in your life.  All felons aren't bad people.

  8. Around here, the "pen" refers to a State Penitentiary. Generally people sent to State Prison are those who are found guilty of felonies and are sentenced to longer than 1 year in prison.

  9. It would have to be a felony offense... an offense that would rate a 1 year or more sentence in state prison.
