He has decided that he wants to join the Coast Guard and he just needs to take the ASVAB then talk to a recruiter. He has told me that after his A school he wants me to move in with him. I have a few questions about this. 1. I told him that he might not get directly sent to A school then he told me he isn't going to sign until it says he will go directly to A school after boot camp. What is the likely hood of that happening? I know that it takes a long time sometimes for that.2. Would he be allowed to live off base after his A school at wherever they send him? Would they give him housing or whatever? We wont be married.3. If it takes him forever to get sent to A school, would i be allowed to go move in with him?I think thats all of my questions for now. I need as much information as I can get.

1. It depeneds what "A" School he wants to go to. If he wants to go a critical rate (last I heard, they wer ET, IT, OS, and FS) he can get guarunteed "A" School which means he would go from bootcamp straight to "A" school. All non critical rates have to wait on the lists which are very long at the moment.
2. Whether or not he would live off base also depends on the unit. Not all Coast guard units have on-base housing. Some have government-leased aparments (they pay the cost of housing and utilities) and units allow you to live "on the economy" (he would have a housing allowance based on the cost of living in that area and rank). Since you are not married. If they do have barracks, he would not recieve a housing allowance, so it would be at his own cost to live off base.
3. Again, not being married, you would not be allowed to live with him unless he lived off base (on the economy).
