10 ANSWERS

  1. Break up with him

  2. That is a process you have to fill the paper work and wait tell the army gets it and respond to your form that might take up to 5 months but its not for sure it could be less

  3. Once you are married, yes. Your husband to be needs to obtain correct paperwork for your insurance, and as soon as everything is filled out, you and your child will be covered. For your living situation, the military will give you a basic housing allowance each month to help with your cost of rent and some of your other costs like electric and water. If you choose to live on the base you will not receive money for housing because they will already supply that for you. However, there are usually waiting lists to get military housing so living off base is probably your option for now.

If you are still planning on living in the area that you reside currently and not in the area of base (can be out of state), you will still be allotted the amount of living costs that are set for the base area and not necessarily where you are now. So keep that in mind if rent is more where you are now.

Also, military insurance can be a little complicated. Most likely you will be appointed a doctor, so if you are not staying near base, let someone know at your medical insurance company and they will appoint someone for you that is near by. If you need to go to an Emergency room anywhere in the country, this will be covered too.

I know you are probably worried since most likely you wont be there when your fiance is in his classes, but he can talk to one of his superiors and let them know of your situation. This might be helpful so you can know sooner where his permanent duty station will most likely be.

I know it is a bit overwhelming, but it isn't as complicated as you feel like it will be, ya know? Congrats on the wedding and the baby, if you ever need to ask me questions or need support, feel free to email me. You can also find a lot of answers to your questions on Military.com ... I lived on that website for a while! :)

  4. You will quickly learn that everything is a process, my friend :)

I don't really recommend getting married in that short time between training, if you get time at all. Instead, wait until after he's all done. This way, you're not preggers anymore, so you can look more like the bride you've been planning on being since you were a little girl. Since it won't be rushed, you can certainly plan for it a lot better.

However, with a baby on the way and babies being expensive, well, you'll probably just go ahead and do it, and who can blame you?

Once you're married, your husband needs to run around and prove that yes, he's married and yes, you need to start receiving benefits. Your dependent ID is going to be very useful to you here, and start memorizing his SSN because they'll be going off of that as well (the military hospital and Tricare both ask for the sponsor's SSN).

Once the baby is born, your husband will have to redo his "information" paperwork to reflect that he now has a child. This will also get you more money, plus benefits for the baby.

  5. I can tell you from both sides. I was in the army and my bf at the time came out the live off base in AZ while I was in AIT. We got married while I was in AIT. We went and got all the paperwork and filled it out in like 2 hours. It really doesn't take long at all, they should then process it within the week. I don't know if you plan on moving to his AIT or not but you will either have to go to the nearest base and make appointments yourself or if you go to his AIT base you two will probably be able to go together to appointments. You have to get your ID card and have you added to the health insurance and to get your car registered. But the process isn't that difficult. It will all depend on what base you are by, where he is going for AIT and his drill SGT's. Mine Drill SGT's where very very very helpful. That's what they are there for so he can get all the info from them, it's not the first time they have had Privates get married.

I'm not sure about you two getting married between basic and AIT. You will get your family day then graduation the next day and only see him then for a couple hours at best on graduation day.

Also on the other side, my marriage didn't work out, neither did the army because I got hurt so now I am out of the army and a civilian. However my boyfriend is leaving for basic also sometime next week. Where is he going, maybe they go to the same basic. So now I'm on the other side because we are getting married at his first duty station. I'm going to miss him like crazy. I understand what your going through for the most part minus the baby part. So if your ever having one of those days don't hesitate to send me an e-mail, I check it like 5 times a day. It always helps to have someone who is going through the same thing to talk to. Hope everything works out for you. Katie- katherinet0805@yahoo.com

  6. Well, he will not be getting any time off between basic and AIT.  But, if he's leaving now, he'll have a 2 week break from training for Christmas.  As far as your benefits go, they'll kick in as soon as you get married.

  7. We did the same thing,we got married after he came back from OSUT. He left for his duty station before me and took our marriage license( multiple copies you will need like 6 official copies) your social security number and all other personal information. He went to the TriCare office (someone took him) and I was enrolled in TriCare and the DEERS program within in 3 days. I couldn't go to a Dr for like a month but in emergencies I could go to the ER and give them a phone number to call and my information and TriCare would have covered it.  You will have to enroll in DEERS first, but don't worry there will be someone to guide him and tell him how to do this. Good Luck and congrats on the baby. God Bless.
